  All things you should know about mosquitos     So what is a Mosquito? Mosquitos are flying insects that live in almost all parts of the world. They are scientifically named as  culicidae. Belonging to the order diptera. The name mosquito came from Spanish and portugese which  means little fly. What do they feed on? It is a general mistake that mosquitoes feed on other animals' blood. Really they consume nectar , aphid  honeydew, and plant juices. In most of the species their mouth parts are shaped for piercing other animals' bodies for getting blood.  Why do mosquitoes need blood? Mosquitoes consume blood for breeding purposes. They need blood for getting protein and essential  nutrients for their breeding purposes. When it feeds blood it gets the power to lay more eggs and produce  new health offspring.
